NIV and Special Visa Application Fees Increase on June 17

The payment of visa fees is an indispensable pre-requisite for US immigration. Applicants should pay for the appropriate amount before government agencies would commence the application process. Also, visa fees non-refundable. You may not request for a reimbursement whether you receive a visa or not.
On June 17, 2023, a price increase will take effect for the application processing fee of a few selected nonimmigrant visas.

Affected Visas

  • Non-petition-based nonimmigration visas, namely: B, C, D, F, I, J, M, TN/TD, S, T, and U visas: from $160 to $185
  • H, L, O, P, Q, and R visas: $190 to $205
  • E visas: $205 to $315
  • Border Crossing Cards for Mexican citizens aged 15 years old and over: $160 to $185

Basis for the Price Increase

The new NIV fees reflects the actual cost of providing NIV services, as determined by a study of the Department of State. The department utilizes a Activity-Based Costing (ABC) methodology to for the estimation.

Notably, the current price increase is relatively lower than what was originally planned for May 27, 2023.
