USCIS Reveals H-1B Registration Numbers for Fiscal Year 2024

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa. It is a category created for specialty occupations, DOD cooperative research and development project workers, and fashion models. As of 2020, the registration process shifted digitally instead of filing voluminous documents at designated offices. Interested applicants may seek assistance from immigration attorneys when preparing requirements and filing online.

Registration and Selection Numbers

USCIS observed a massive influx of registrants in the last year. As of April 2023, the office received 758,994 eligible registrations. However, considering the H-1B cap, the number of selections so far for FY 2024 is only 110,791. The number of selection numbers is lower compared to previous years because of the following reasons:

  • higher filing rate of selected registrants than what was expected
  • higher projected H-1B1 visa approvals, which further limits the H-1B cap

Families of H-1B Visa Holders

H-1B visas may petition their spouse and unmarried children as dependent beneficiaries. Eligible relatives of H-1B workers may apply for an H-4 visa.
